Welcome

Thank you for visiting this site.   Edith’s articles are becoming available for the first time on-line for your perusal, and we will be including more of them shortly, as well as some mp3s of her various lectures.

THE ARTICLES: There is a range of material for a wide range of interests, both for the astrologer and for the layperson. If you are interested in biography, history, politics, and culture – these are areas that are featured. Inasmuch as anyone can explain destiny to anyone else, that is the detailed and humble task of the astrologer, who must study a large number of factors and trends described by the planets. Astrology has an astonishing capacity to reveal some mysteries and complexities of people and events that remain otherwise unfathomable.

Read a brief overview of Vedic Astrology

VEDIC ASTROLOGY: There are many forces of destiny for us to understand, and Vedic astrology – the astrology of India – gives us one tool. It is a great gift in revealing who we are, and where we are in time. The next task is accepting and working with those factors. Knowing this and accepting this, we move on to pursuing the destiny we were meant to live, at the highest level – as manifestations of the planetary lights, the brightest of which are the Sun and the Moon. Their light is reflected in each of us.

Time is the force behind the Creation of the universal elements. It is also the force that brings about the Destruction of all these. Even when the Universe is Asleep, Time remains in a state of Awakening. Time, which is thus ever alert, is an Inviolable Force. … Time bakes the various living beings along with their souls.”

From “The Concept of Time,” Hora Ratnam, Chapter 2, slokas 327-328, p. 309.

May your 2012 be joyous and peaceful.

Full day workshop with Edith Hathaway
In Search of Destiny
Drawing from her new book, In Search of Destiny: Biography, History & Culture As Told Through Vedic Astrology, Edith brings together important principles and examples from the 12 Vedic Ascendant charts.  How Vedic astrology organizes complex material will become clearer, including how the Ascendant is the primary expression of the Dharma, or life’s purpose, and therefore key to understanding the destiny of an individual or an entity. The placement of the 9 classical Vedic planets from each other and from the Ascendant is critical. Their placement from the Moon as Ascendant is next in importance, and thirdly from the Sun. The Vimshottari Dasha sequence of the planets is also a major key.

Scheduled for Sunday, May 13, 2012
1:30 to 3:00 PM
Lecture with Edith Hathaway
Graha Yuddha (Planetary War): How to use this frequent astronomical phenomenon in workable ways
Edith’s extensive research on this subject began in the mid-1990s, with first lectures (2002) and articles published in three astrological journals (2003 to 2010).  Effective operating principles and numerous examples provide important implications for both natal and mundane charts.

Edith’s lecture is on Track 15: Vedic Astrology. Her lecture topic is The Way into the Chart & the Life – Vedic Ascendant Charts, based on her new book (2011), In Search of Destiny. “The Time is contained in the ascendant. Based on Time, the natal ascendant … along with auspicious and inauspicious things should be understood….” (from the Vedic classic, Hora Ratnam). Enhanced by rich details from biography, history, and culture, and based on over 10 years of deep research, including from her 2002 Audio course, Edith brings together important principles and examples from the 12 Vedic Ascendant charts. Edith will be available to autograph copies of her book in the UAC Book store directly following her lecture, from 6:15 to 6:45 PM.
