Jupiter –Saturn and Transnational Companies – Part 1

The first of a two-part article published in the Jan. 2002 and Feb. 2002 issues of The Astrological Magazine, Bangalore, India. (5 pp.)

These articles, written in fall 2001, reflect on the power of the Transnational companies, and what astrology can say about them – especially Jupiter and Saturn and their cycles.  The attack on the World Trade Towers on 9-11 closely followed the legal soft landing of Microsoft on Sept. 6, 2001. Thus the lead quote, originally from Paddy Chayefsky in 1974, but quoted again on Sept. 9, 2001 by Maureen Dowd in her New York Times column: “There is no America. There is no democracy. There is only IBM and ITT and AT & T and DuPont, Dow, Union Carbide and Exxon. Those are the nations of the world today. The world is a business …  and there is not a single law on the books to stop them!”

Jupiter & Saturn: Planets of Dharma & Karma

This article appeared in the CVA (Council of Vedic Astrology) Journal, Spring/Summer 2009 edition, pp. 14-20. :   If we can get a grasp on the nature of Jupiter and Saturn, we can begin to understand what is Dharma (right action) and Karma (the consequences of our actions).  How these planets are configured at any given time tell us how we can deal with these two major forces for good or for ill, and if they are more likely to be used incorrectly.  If they are powerfully configured, then the person is likely to be a person of consequence, as is clear with U.S. Pres. Barack Obama, whose Jupiter-Saturn conjunction echoes the most powerful conjunction of these two planets in 100s of years. (10 pp.)

Graha Yuddha: Testing the Parameters of Astrology and Astronomy

A 2010 Revised, updated and expanded edition (40 pp.) of the article first published in 2003 (20 pp.) in the ACVA Journal, Vo. 9, no. 1, Summer 2003, pp. 27-46.  This 2010 version appears in the Summer 2010 issue of Saptarishis Astrology magazine (an On-line magazine based in Mumbai, India).  It contains the same core material, and same principles, with 25 Chart examples. North & South Indian charts are provided within each Chart example, and footnotes have been added to define some of the Sanskrit terms for the layperson or newcomer to Vedic astrology.

Graha Yuddha, or Planetary War occurs when two planets are within one degree of each other, whether or not in different signs. Graha Yuddha is considered only in Vedic astrology, and applies only to five planets: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. It should also be applied to conjunctions of these planets, especially the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction. With conflicting rules from the classics, it has been a controversial subject, with many astrologers ignoring it altogether.  Edith’s research since the mid-1990s shows what rules are supported by classical principles and DO work consistently in astrological practice. The basis of these rules came via Vedic astrologer Chakrapani Ullal, who was involved in the initial stages of the research project.

Fixed Stars – Interview [& Dialogue] with Diana K. Rosenberg

Also released on July 22, 2010:  Calling this “An elegant mix of East & West… and a compelling discussion,” Saptarishis Astrology Magazine (Mumbai, India) presents this larger interview of Diana K.
